Semi truck carrying beer overturns in Panama City

When you think of the most dangerous types of motor vehicle accidents, what comes to mind? Some dangerous types of crashes include head-on collisions or drunk driving accidents. When you are driving a small vehicle, however, a crash with a much larger vehicle, like a semi truck, can cause serious destruction.

Recently, a semi truck transporting beer overturned on U.S. 98 in Panama City. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver lost control of the truck for some reason. Although he tried to correct the vehicle's path, the truck overturned across both directions of the highway. Police cited the driver for careless driving.

Fortunately, it seems that no other vehicles were around when this truck accident happened. However, it still raises the question of what could have happened if there were others present on the road.

Although semi trucks are a vital part of our country's transportation of goods, they can quickly turn into destructive forces if a driver isn't careful. To keep others on the road safe, tractor-trailer drivers are required to adhere to federal regulations when operating their vehicles. They can only work a certain number of hours at a time and must take breaks between shifts to prevent fatigue. Unfortunately, drivers and their employers are not always good about adhering to these rules.

When a crash involves a semi truck, it is important for victims to determine whether a driver or trucking company was going against federal regulations at the time of the accident. If so, they can both be held accountable through a personal injury lawsuit.
