Good Samaritan hit and killed pushing car out of traffic

A vehicle apparently broke down on the interstate in Florida. It was in the southbound lanes of I-295, and it was stranded in the middle of the road. This happened at about 2:00 a.m., so it was a dangerous time to be stuck in the dark on a busy highway.

As such, the driver and the passenger tried to manually move the car out of the way to prevent an accident. A Good Samaritan stopped to help them push.

Tragically, while they were pushing the car, another vehicle slammed into them. The violent crash only caused minor injuries for both drivers, but the passenger who was pushing and the Good Samaritan who was helping were both fatally injured.

The local police department did not give much information on those who died, as it withholds names in cases like this. All that is known by local news stations is that one person was 19-years-old and the other was 21 years of age.

Police stressed how dangerous a situation like this could be, noting that the best thing for drivers to do is to drive onto the shoulder if their car is breaking down, rather than staying in the center lane. That said, it is unclear if that was even possible in this case, and everyone at the scene was trying to move the car out of the road. In some cases, it seems like a level of risk is just unavoidable.

Those who lose loved ones in traffic accidents must know what legal options they have, and the same is true for those who suffer serious injuries. Depending on the case, financial compensation may be possible for the victim's survivors.
