A man in Florida is dead after a two-car accident that, according to initial reports, it appears that the other driver caused.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that the man was from Felda, but he was driving near Immokalee on Monday morning. He was 46 years old at the time of the accident, and he was behind the wheel of a Dodge Stratus. He was going south down State Road 29.

Coming the other direction on 29 was a 50-year-old man from Immokalee. He was in a Ford F-150 pickup truck. As the two cars drew close to State Road 82, the man in the truck attempted a left turn.

As he turned, he crossed into the path of the Stratus, apparently causing the accident with the far smaller sedan. He hit the car with the right front corner of the pickup. While he was only injured in a minor fashion, the man in the car was hurt badly enough that he had to be taken to NCH Healthcare Northeast. He then passed away at the medical center.

The police are still investigating exactly what happened, but they did say that alcohol did not play a role and that the men in both vehicles did have their seatbelts on.

All it takes is one moment of inattention to cause an accident. Those who get injured may have no way to avoid it, as things happen so fast. The ramifications can be dire. The families of those who pass away need to know what rights they have to financial compensation after such a crash.
