Pedestrian risks greater in Florida than any other state

If you opt not to drive in Florida, and you choose to walk instead, it could be a decision that lands you in the hospital -- or worse.

The reality is that no state in the country has the same level of danger for pedestrians. The statistics paint a very bleak picture. Those on foot face the greatest risks here.

To be honest, it's not even close. A recent list looked at the 20 deadliest cities in the entire country for those on foot. Almost half of them (9 of 20) were in Florida.

Remember, with only 20 cities, more than half of U.S. states did not even make the list. Just getting one city in the top 20 means the state is more dangerous than average. Having two would show massive dangers. But nine? It's an incredible statistic.

As you probably suspected by this point, Florida also had the most dangerous city on the list. That's Orlando. No. 2 was Dayton Beach. At No. 3 was the Palm Bay area. No. 4 was the Sarasota area. The list goes on and on. In fact, you do not even get out of the top 10 until No. 7: Bakersfield, California. No. 8 and No. 9 are also in Florida. So, the state not only dominated the top 20, but it really held most of the top 10.

That's not good news for pedestrians in Florida, who may have very little they can do to avoid reckless, dangerous drivers. If you get hit and suffer serious injuries, you need to know how to seek compensation.
