An early-morning car accident in Florida turned tragic when five people lost their lives in the resulting blaze.

According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday, August 31. The calls to the police came in around 4:30 a.m. Emergency crews quickly rushed to the scene, where they found that two vehicles had collided.

As Gainesville Fire Rescue attempted to save those involved, one of the cars burst into flames. The blaze started spreading, and it was not long before both cars were on fire.

This meant that the firefighters had to split their efforts. Some of them worked to put out the blaze while others attempted to get the people out of the vehicles before it was too late.

There were six people in the two vehicles. One of them lived through the ordeal, though they are in critical condition. The other five all passed away at the scene. The news reports did not name the victims when the initial story broke. The entire accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

A story like this helps to underscore the severity of a car accident. It happens in mere seconds, but the impact can be felt for years to come. Families are left without loved ones and even survivors have their lives changed forever.

You can be careful when you drive, but it only takes one mistake by one person to cause a two-car accident. You may do nothing wrong and still find yourself with serious injuries, or one of your loved ones could pass away. If this happens to you, you must know what legal steps to take.
