Adrenaline may hide your injuries

Adrenaline is supposed to save your life. It makes you perform better, physically speaking. It gives you energy and endurance. It's part of your fight or flight ability. If you are threatened, adrenaline helps you run from the threat or fight it off.

This can be helpful. If you're serving in the military or trying to survive in the wild, you need that. However, it can actually have a detrimental impact on modern humans who get injured in car accidents, workplace accidents and things of this nature because it helps to mask the pain.

It's not just a fluke. Reducing pain also helps you if you need to fight or run in the face of danger. You have a better chance of survival if some painful injury doesn't hold you back.

In a more modern accident, though, you don't need to fight or flee. You need to get medical treatment. If the adrenaline masks the pain, it can actually help hide your injuries. You may think that you're fine and that you don't need to go to the hospital when the reality is that you have been badly injured.

In fact, after the adrenaline rush wears off, your pain can noticeably increase. That's why many injured people put off getting medical care and then head for the hospital the next morning when they wake up and realize just how bad that pain really is.

It's important to keep this in mind if you're involved in any type of accident. Don't assume you're fine. Seek out proper medical care and then start thinking about what legal steps you'll need to take.
