The dangers of plastic surgery increase with lack of training

If you found out that your surgeon operated on you without the appropriate training, you would be mortified. If you suffered injuries as a result, you'd have a good reason to start a claim against that medical practitioner.

It's important for surgeons to be qualified for the work they do. Those who aren't shouldn't be performing surgeries they aren't qualified for, because they could put a patient at serious risk of injury.

This is a particular problem among cosmetic surgeons. Some people act as if they have board certifications or licenses when they do not. It hurts surgeons who have the actual training to perform operations, and it costs individuals their lives.

One such example involves the death of a 40-year-old woman who got a Brazilian butt lift, known as a BBL. She was the fourth person to die from complications from cosmetic surgery since 2013 at the location where the surgery was performed.

In many cases, the surgeries are performed by people who are licensed physicians. They get the right equipment to perform the surgeries, but without specializing in cosmetic surgery, they may not have the know-how to complete them successfully. Doctors may be told the surgeries are easy, in-and-out procedures, but that's not always the case. Patients need to be certain that the doctor holds a board certification to guarantee that he or she has the skills and experience to perform an operation.

If you find out that you were misled and that your surgeon did not have the skills to perform an operation on you, know your rights. You can file a medical malpractice claim to seek compensation.
